I was flying from Chicago to Algiers to see family, all on one Air France ticket through Paris. ORD to CDG came in late, and by the time I cleared passport control, the Algiers flight was gone.
Air France put me on a morning flight. I spent the night at CDG, paid for food myself, and got to Algiers almost nine hours late. They gave a hotel voucher and nothing about cash.
I wasn't sure a US departure still qualified. I emailed FlightsComp my ticket and the delay notices. They checked the route, said the Paris connection made me eligible, and took over with Air France.
At first the airline offered travel credits. FlightsComp pushed for cash with what the airline had already confirmed. I got $1,418.09 for three passengers on the booking. I wouldn't have gotten there on my own.
